Question: New home on water, "river rats" thieves in boats slink up the shore to
raid houses. Wife will not allow me to deploy mines nor laser guided
gatteling gun, not even my custom perimeter alarms (mouse traps hooked
to fishing line... mouse traps have 22cal shells mounted) :/
Bought two X10 XCAMs, which don't work AT ALL in low light. Started
looking on the net for security camera's; found 1000's, no clue which
are a good value, which are junk, which are a waste of money.
Any pointers on where to learn more or personal experiences is greatly
appreciated.
Answer:f you're near the water you need weatherproof gear. I've had good
experience with Provideo equipment but it's a little pricey. I've been
using their bulletcams but others make weatherproof cameras as well. Low
light performance is excellent and they are sensitive in the infrared range
which means you can light up the scene covertly. Still, night time video
from such a camera may not be of sufficient detail to insure a conviction.
