Question:I need to get new Sony cctv cameras for my place of business and am using it
in conjunction with my remote video monitoring units so i need really
good resolution....i was looking into sony cameras, but if anyone has
any suggesstions i would really appreciate it and also i should use just
rj58 wire to run the whole thing right...with those BNC connectors?
Answer:RG-58 is 50 ohm cable used for computer networking and some
RF antenna applications like CB-Radio. Unfortunately it is not
appropriate for video distribution. For that you need a 75 ohm
cable. For short runs of CCTV RG-59 will work fine. If you have to make
runs over 500' I would reccomend that you change to RG-6.
Also Sony makes a decent camera, but there are several brands
that could give you good resolution.
Also, don't forget to run power wire.
