Question: I bought an RCA security camera that lacks a lens. Are the lenses for these
units (I see where they are called C mounts) readily available and universal
to the cameras?
Answer:First make sure your camera takes a C-mount lens. Most cameras
currently on the market take the C-mount lenses.
A wide variety of C-mount lenses are available from any electronics
catalog that sells commercial-grade security cameras (MCM
electronics). These cameras are normally sold without lenses, so you
can choose the best one for your application. Also, if a camera fails
and has to be replaced, the lens from the old camera can be re-used on
the new one - some lenses with features as auto-iris and variable
focal length (zoom) can cost as much as the camera itself.
