Question: I'm getting estimates for a home security system from Honeywell, ADT,
Brinks and Ameritech. I'd welcome any first-hand experience with
these companies / systems that may be useful in my decision-making
process. Is there another company I should consider.
BTW, I just want to say how grateful I am to have this group to pose
these kinds of questions. Getting first-hand feedback from people
with such varied experiences and backgrounds is priceless and often
more useful than my consumer reports subscription.
Is there any information about home security system consumer report?
Answer:If you are looking for the best security, go for a "perimeter system" that
protects all your doors and windows to keep the intruder from entering your
house. A lot of companies are pushing cheap systems that rely on motion
detectors that will sound once someone is actually in your house. If you
have pets or as in my case, walk through the house once the alarm system is
set, you will set off the system yourself. I have had the "perimeter"
system for almost twenty year (upgraded two years ago) and have had no
problems with it.
