Answer:You are absolutely right. Entergy bought out many local alarm companies and some
nationals only to turn around and sell out for a fat profit. The company I am with
bought out Masada, Rollins Scott and quite a few others. The owner of SecurityLink
is Ameritech, who is merging with SBC which puts them in the top 50 Fortune 500. Now
as far as monitoring fees and pricing of security devices... Today Security sytems
are more affordable. A few years back a system cost $2000 and up. Today any home
owner can afford one.BTW, as you travel down your street or any street, look at the
front lawns and see how many security signs you see.
As long as there are dopers who need $200 to $300 dollars a day for their habit, you
and your family are victims waiting to happen. These tragic beings are not hardened
criminals and really don't want to confront you. They are sneak thieves and will
try to get into your home while you are not there. Ever have anyone break into your
home and go throught all your things? It feels like another form of rape.
So if you cut the phone line, heck cut the electricity too, you will still have the
backup battery which will run the system and sound the alarm. The alarm is like a
police car alarm and just as loud. (Some systems have cell phone back up).
If you don't believe you need a system that's fine. I agree with you.
I might add, that you should increase your home owners policy. (BTW most insurance
companies give a 10 to 15% discount on homes having burglar and fire alarm
systems.) Might also be a good idea to increase your life insurance. I sell that
also.
I am not really trying to sell anyone on here a system. The purpose of my sig line
was to inform you all that I am in the business. I have only said more because my
sig line was challenged. Heck I just learned how to do a sig line. I figured if
any one here was in the market for a system, they might give me a play.
