Question: Looking for a dennard CCTV system for outside of house which will work in day
and at night, using infra-red. Also, must be able to link up to VCR and includes
motion defector. Want a unit which is not too conspicuous. Anybody provide
any links to a website which might sell such a thing? Oh, would prefer a
colour camera for day vision.
Answer:Peter is correct when he says you can't view colour by IR light it is
imposible. However he is wrong that you need two cameras as there are
cameras called day/night cameras. They are colour by day and automatically
go to monochrome at night and are IR sensitive.
They are beyond the reach of the average DIY'er as compared to cameras at
Argo these cameras will set you back about six times more. I have used
Baxall cameras and Panasonic cameras and they both work well. There are
different varities of day/night cameras with different filter
configurations. Most dome cameras such as VCL or Dennard have this
capability as standard although the low light lux levels are not as good in
my experience.
