Question:I currently have a number of small 12 volt color CCTV cameras around my home.
All are fed off the one 3A 12 Volt DC power supply.
All the cameras are connected via alarm cable, to cheap and nasty terminal
blocks, which in turn are connected to coax cable connected to a multiplexer
via BNC's. I am in the process of building a small box that will interface
the connections via soldered boards.
The problem that I am now getting is diagonal lines crossing the screen on
most of the cameras. I have been advised that Humbugs will eliminate this,
but I would need to connect one to each camera, and at about £60 each , I
was hoping that there would be an easier (and cheaper) way to solve this.I
have been told it may be something to do with the negative of the CCTV camera
video signal? A few of the cameras share the negative DC with the Video
negative. Any help appreciated.
Answer:I had a problem after I added an infrared color CCTVcamera. I was getting a
lot of interference between it and some other cameras. I tried all kinds of
things to clear up the interference. Finally realized that I had overloaded the
12v power supply, and the voltage was down around 11 volts. Adding another ps
made it perfect again. Make sure that's not your problem.
