Question:From time to time, I see an article stating that CCTV and Observation video
system are NOT the same. I do not understand why one would say that they are
NOT the same. Can someone shed some light on this? Thank you.
Answer:Observation video would apply mostly to the low cost kits you purchase from
Sam's Club, Costco, etc. In fact they are called Observation Systems. They
would also be classified as CCTV products. CCTV is an entire class of
equipment, Obs Sys being part of that class. CCTV would cover all aspects such
as multiplexers, quads, phone line video, hard drive recording, etc.
