Question: I'm planning to set up a webcam installation to provide a frequently
refreshed still image from a closed circuit TV deluxe camera, based on a
New Zealand model on a Webcam site which describes its installation as
follows: "The camera feeds Snappy which is attached to a PC running Win
95 and then SnapCAP software which digitizes the picture, connecting via
RAS and uploading the image by FTP."
From what I've read Snappy seems OK for capturing a still image from
the video camera. It's a small box which plugs into the parallel port
and comes with software to process the video input. I've downloaded
SnapCAP from the Internet. This is used for uploading the Snappy image
to the website. I've yet to find what RAS is. Alternatives to SnapCAP
are EasySnap and KSnap. The Play Incorporated website (makers of
Snappy) lists several webcams which use this system.
Wondering if anyone has any comments about cctv deluxe camera ?
Answer:I didn't know Snappy had a USB box. I thought that Snappy 3.0 cctv Deluxe
and Snappy 4 were connected to the parallel port. What version of Snappy is
USB?
