Has anyone else had trouble with Brinks Home Security??

Question:Has anyone else had trouble with Brinks Home Security?? I subscribed to their service over 5 years ago, but I learned in May that I'm not one of their customers. Huh?? It seems they've been accepting my quarterly payments but haven't been providing security services for me since last fall (at least). If it hadn't been for the false alarm I had in May, I still wouldn't know about it. So far, I've been unsuccessful at getting Brink's management, in Dallas, to discuss this with me. Has anyone else had a similar problem with a security service? Were you able to get your money back? If so, how? Can anyone recommend a replacement service?

Answer:I posted a reply earlier today in this group for someone seeking the installation of a security system in their home, along with a recommendation for a vendor. In your case, the first question would be, "Do you own the equipment?" If so, then you should be able to contact any of the other security system companies to get hooked up with their monitoring service. The yellow pages are full of them. If Brinks owns the equipment, then you are probably going to have to resolve this problem with them. I don't know if my vendor (see earlier post) could help you or not. You could ask. If not, I'll bet he could recommend someone. Some advice for the future... anyone with a system should test it at least monthly. You can call your monitoring service, have them place the system on test, and then set off the different alarms. You call them after you are finished and they will confirm receiving the signals. This would have let you know much earlier that you had a problem, not to mention letting you know if there is a defect in your system. You don't want to find out your system is inoperable when an intruder is in your home.
