Question:Anybody care to get in to a discussion re the all-in-one-boxes?
Whadda ya use? Whadda ya like, dislike? I'm comparing as best I can.
not many give little guys units to play with .For me, it's boiling
down to Lynx or Envoy so far. familiarity with manufacturer mainly,
ITI is getting easier to procur, maybe I shouldn't rule out the Simon.
but yech, another downloader-go-round. What do you know adt employment?
Answer:I have used many different brands of wireless and hardwired equipment (based
on appropriate use). It is my opinion that ITI makes the best wireless
"all-in-one" control/communicator/rf receiver/keypad. I would qualify this
by saying I have not used the Simon panel.
My ITI experience was based on their SX-V, Caretaker, Caretaker Plus, and
Commander systems. All of these were ADT versions of the original equipment
from ITI. The "Learn-Mode" technology systems were far better than the
earlier SX-V technology, and the improvement ITI's RF equipment represented
over earlier RF equipment (12 to 15 years ago) was remarkable.
My first experience with DSC's first all-in-one was dreadful, but they have
made many improvements and the current 900mhz & the 433mhz equipment seems
far better. However, I have had more calls for supervisory signal misses on
DSC than I ever had with older ITI equipment.
The Ademco wireless seems fairly reliable, but my experience with it is
limited as I left ADT's employment shortly after they started using Ademco
wireless (2-3 years ago), and my current employment has concentrated mostly
on commercial CCTV, Card Access, fire alarm, and commercial audio systems.
However, I have stayed in contact with many of my co-workers from ADT, and
the reports I hear from the techs are that the Ademco RF equipment have few
service calls.
