Question:
It's been nearly a week since the shootings. Three days after the
incident, I read on CNN that "police had not yet viewed the
survellance videos from the school". Why not? Now it's been almost a
week. Still NOTHING at all about the contents of the videos.
Can you tell about the School Surveillance Camera already?
Answer:They're at Quantico, VA - being analyzed by the FBI. As
everyone knows, surveillance videos are notoriously "fuzzy"
and it's quite likely they must be digitally enhanced.
There's other problems:
IF the surveillance camera in the "commons" worked like
many others, it was a 6-hour tape loop that overwrote itself
every six hours. Therefore, the FBI has to do some work
to see if what was taped over is recoverable (apparently,
there are magnetic traces even when you retape.)
Another type takes a picture every little while, and must be
carefully reviewed to determine sequence/timing.
I think it'll take awhile before anything's known. It could be
that the FBI *has* developed images, but is saying nothing
as they don't want to tip off other suspects.
